Proper maintenance and service of aircraft is essential for ensuring safety of flight. Aviation is an exacting pursuit, and is not inexpensive. Our Director of Maintenance is a highly trained FAA Master Mechanic, with over fifty years of engineering experience, and expects to be compensated accordingly. We understand that budgets are limited, and endeavor to minimize your maintenance costs - but never to the point of compromising safety.
Our Hourly Shop Rate
AvSport generally performs aircraft maintenance on a time-plus-materials basis. Our shop rate (which is unfortunately subject to change without notice) is currently set at $110 per hour. This fee covers the mechanic's hourly wage, tools, required calibration, shop materials, hangar rent, and overhead. This is about what you should expect to pay a plumber to fix your toilet. Considering the level of training, currency requirements, liability, and government oversight required, we think you will agree that this is a reasonable price.
AvSport quotes fixed pricing for basic aircraft Condition Inspections and Prebuy Examinations. Since unforeseen circumstances can arise when inspecting an aircraft, we will always terminate work and receive authorization from the customer before continuing with any unexpected maintenance which might add additional costs above these flat rates.
Prices Subject to Change
Although we endeavor to keep flying affordable, we traditionally adjust our prices about once a year, to reflect our actual cost of doing business. Since our operating costs are highly variable, all prices quoted on this website, in AvSport brochures, or in our various advertisements are subject to change without notice. Please check with us for current pricing when scheduling aircraft maintenance or inspections.
Availability
Our Director of Maintenance's schedule fills up fast. To spread the load, AvSport from time to time selects and trains qualified reserve mechanics, who work as independent contractors, and set their own schedules. Our reserve mechanics have agreed to honor our pricing structure. Should we be unable to satisfy your needs or scheduling requirements, we will be happy to refer you to other shops which we feel meet our exacting standards.
