Wichita Spam-Can

I thought I'd build myself an airplane,More Songs
Bought and RV from Van's,
Just to find I'm hopeless when tools are in my hands.
Shoulda bought a finished airplane
I am starting now to find.
And the Wichita Spam-Can
Is still on my mind.I took the seminar at Oshkosh,
In the front row I sat.
It looked so easy, I said "Even I could do that!"
So I put down my deposit,
On the dotted line I signed.
But the Wichita Spam-Can
Is still on my mind.I tried my hand at bucking rivets,
But I'm no bucking good.
I read the build instructions. They can not be understood.
All the lurkers at Van's Airforce
Say I must be dumb and blind.
And the Wichita Spam-Can
Is still on my mind. What all the advertisements promised
Was a thousand-hour build.
It's been a dozen years, and my flying dreams aren't fulfilled.
What I thought would be a pleasure
Has become a grueling grind.
And the Wichita Spam-Can
Is still on my mind.I should go buy myself a Cessna,
Or a Beechcraft will do.
I bet that I'll be ninety, before this project is through.
I'd much rather be up flying.
Guess I'm not the building kind.
And the Wichita Spam-Can
Is still on my mind.
