The FAR book is the code of the skyMore Songs
With rules to adhere to whenever you fly.
Here's three that apply to you as PIC:
Nine One dot Three, (A), (B), and (C).
It's the code of the sky that the flight's happy outcomePart Nine One dot Three says two other things too.
Is a burden that falls on the PIC's head.
Ninety One dot Three (A) spells it out very clearly,
So cling to it dearly
If you don't want to end up dead.
Paragraphs (B) and (C) are important to you.
The first is your card that says Get Out Of Jail
If all of your options should fail.
For the code of the sky is not binding upon youIf you should invoke Part Nine One dot Three (B),
If, during your flight, everything falls apart.
Declare an emergency when things get tricky,
Squawk Mayday quickly
And let ATC do its part.
Prepare to comply then with Paragraph (C).
If to deviations you're forced to resort,
Be ready to file a report.
Here the code of the sky can lead you to disaster.
Some delay calling Mayday, they'd much rather wait.
When spit hits the fan blades, react on the double.
No paperwork trouble
Justifies waiting 'til it's too late.
