Rants and Ravings
Most intelligent people have lots of opinions. I am no exception.
Here are some of my responses to the situations that provoked me.

The elementary schools abolishing Halloween Celebrations. Stolen Holidays
Bryn's letter to the Sun-Gazette, our local rag, which never printed it.  Bryn's Plea
Our Superintendent read the book about Detracking Myths and decided that gifted programs are elitist. Derailing "Detracking"
Boys reading Playboy. Playboy
False Child Abuse Charges in the U.S. False Abuse
Duh Stories from the Newspapers Duh!
Commercials on our chests (not mine!)  By Bob Greene Commercial

Check out this story from Oct. 1997 (AP)  Woman goes on trial for slapping errant teen!
They all need a slap now and then, don't they?

A worthwhile organization, promoting religious tolerance,
discussing controversial issues. They need your financial help.
Groups like this are one of the  best things about the internet.

I agree with the Libertarians on drug prohibition.
It is not working and is costing us too much.
The major argument against alcohol and drug use is its deleterious
effects on society.  I say, Safe Houses, where the chemicals are free
and the users are off the streets would eliminate the majority of problems
with people who use them to excess.

Managed care sucks.  Regular insurance is bad enough when you have special needs children.  When the insurance company asked me how I liked my experience with managed care, I told them, "It was obvious that the case manager was working for you and not us."

Goddess, grant me
the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change
The Courage to change the things I cannot accept
And the Wisdom to hide the bodies of those people
I had to kill today because they pissed me off.
