Should the applicant elect to have our DPE travel to his or her location to conduct a practical examination, the applicant will required to reimburse the examiner's reasonable travel expenses, as established by the US Government and updated annually on the General Services Administration website.
Domestic transportation mileage is billable at current GSA POV mileage rates. As of 1 January 2024, those rates per statute mile are as follows:
- Automobile - $0.67
- Motorcycle - $0.65
- Airplane - $1.76
Should travel involve an overnight stay, domestic lodging, meals, and incidentals are billed in accordance with established US General Services Administration CONUS per-diem rates in effect for the given locale at the time of travel. If commercial air travel is required, the applicant will reimburse the examiner at the lowest available airfare for flexible, unrestricted Coach travel. Applicants will also reimburse the examiner for public transportation, airport parking, and rental car costs, as applicable.
Non-domestic travel expenses will be billed at actual costs, converted to US Dollars at the official currency exchange rate in effect at the time of the travel.
Like practical examination fees, travel expenses as applicable are payable by cash or chip-enabled debit or credit card. (I'm sorry, we are not able to accept personal checks at this time.) If significant travel expenses are anticipated, the examiner may require that they be remitted in advance of commencing travel.
